Full of Stars (Space Oddity)

Album cover for "Full of Stars", version of David Bowie's Space Oddity by Glen Murrant

David Bowie’s music has always been a source of inspiration for me, and has influenced my original works. Space Oddity was always one of my favourites, but I never liked the jazzy parts (shame on me), so I performed/produced this cover – more ambient, lush, atmospheric.

The opening line, “My God. It’s full of stars!” is from the movie 2010: The Year We Make Contact. The radio conversation in the solo is taken from declassified NASA recordings between mission control and the Apollo 13 crew. And I was compelled to include a few words by Douglas Rain as HAL9000.
